How to get there

By airplane

The nearest airport to Saaristo is Turku International Airport, 8 km (20 minutes by car) from Turku city center. Flights to most Western European capitals take about 4 hours, including a stopover.

Helsinki-Vantaa Airport, 170 kilometers away, offers more connections with smooth bus, train, or car links to Turku (about 2.5 hours).

By ferry

When arriving from across the Baltic Sea, different ferry firms can bring you to the nearest cities to the archipelago, from Sweden and Åland.

By train

Travel green and take the train – the railroad company VR can take you to Turku from almost anywhere in Finland.

By bus

Transport company Matkahuolto’s journey planner simplifies travel by combining routes from various bus companies, VR trains, and local public transport into one easy search.

The Archipelago Bus (routes 901-904) is a great option for travel linking the bigger cities to the archipelago.

You can easily reach the nearest islands of Turku with the local transport service Föli. Timetables and a route planner can be found on the Föli website. 

By car

We recommend using public transport, walking, or cycling when traveling to and in Saaristo. You can also explore the archipelago by car – car rentals are available in the region.
