Outdoor life in the Finnish archipelago is about taking time for yourself and reconnecting with nature. Here the sea, islands, and changing seasons shape the experience. From hiking to paddling, there is an activity for everybody.

Saaristo offers landscapes to explore for different levels of hikers: trek through small island trails on remote Jungfruskär or take a short waterbus ride to the island nearest to Turku city centre, Ruissalo.

One of the best ways to explore Saaristo is biking: its the perfect place to go island-hopping by bike.

If you want to explore ways to get around by water, try paddling. Saaristo’s waters, speckled with numerous islands, create a beautiful setting for a paddling trip.

Saaristo offers landscapes to explore for different levels of hikers. For instance, the Bodö island trail offers a 2.5-kilometer route offering insights into Bodö’s cultural history and natural environment, including fishing huts and diverse flora. Another island, Seili, offers trails among a unique combination of cultural history and archipelago nature.

For a more flexible way to explore, island hopping by ferry between island destinations like Nagu, Korpo, and Houtskär lets visitors combine short hikes, local villages, and breathtaking views at their own pace.
