How to move around

A key part of the Saaristo lifestyle, known as "multilocality”, is a way of life where your life is spread across several meaningful places – and you enjoy traveling between them.

By ferry

35 ferry routes operate between the islands, and you can easily cross bodies of water with them, whether traveling by car, bike, or even on foot.

Most of the ferries are free of charge – excluding the seasonal ones, which have a charge that depends on the vehicle you are traveling with.

For example, along the Archipelago Trail, the only ferry with a fee is the Houtskari-Iniö-ferry (Mossala-Dalen), which costs 40 euros per car and operates only in the summer season.

If you want to travel from Saaristo to Åland and Sweden, you can travel with bigger cruise vessels with cabins such as ones of Tallink, Viking Line and Finnlines.
